Poetry
"Your work should stand on its own," they say. But for poetry, I've never quite found that to be true, like it is in prose. Context is key. My poems will come with a blurb, adding clarity to artistic brevity.
As for Time Is Spent On You, that poem is a confrontation to my instinct to minimize myself for the sake of other's comfort. Although the instinct is romanticized in the poem, it comes with the corollary that time is better spent on one's self.
